Are you looking for a fun and unique outing for your family? Need something that you, your husband, and your kids will all enjoy? The Salado Farmer’s Market at Barrow Brewing Company is definitely worth checking out! Each Saturday morning from April through September, you’ll find enticing vendors, a perfect creek for cooling down the kids, live music, and a satisfying selection of thirst-quenching beverages.
This weekend, my family enjoyed listening to Charlie Weyler’s Country Music. Charlie has a relaxed vibe and made the market more enjoyable with his acoustic guitar and familiar songs. Barrow is great about posting which vendors and musicians will be attending each market, so check FB to plan your visit!
The Firefly Yoga Studio was at the market to promote their recently opened Salado studio located between Muscovy Coffee and the Fire Station. Who wouldn’t want to take a class with one of these friendly ladies?! I learned that you do NOT have to be flexible to attend! Yay for me! LOL
Ladies who crave color and whimsy will love Colibri! You’ll find handmade bags, clothing, and an assortment of fun earrings, toys, and other goodies. Mom was running this small business with her two young helpers at the market, and they were as sweet as could be! You’ll also find them in The Shoppes on Main if you miss them at the market.
Radical Donuts is one of the two booths my son and husband bee-lined for when we arrived at the market. Jarren hooked them up with some hot, sweet donuts that really hit the spot. They opted for the more traditional Sweet Spice Swindle (cinnamon + sugar) and an order of Cookies and Cream (crushed Oreos topped with a vanilla glaze.) Both were delish!!!
This is, of course, the second vendor my guys wanted to visit! GYAF is a Veteran owned company that creates amazing rubs, sauces, and salts to enhance your grilling experience! We purchased their sample pack of dry rubs a few months ago and enjoyed every single one. Today, Brian chose Gunpowder for our steaks and it was awesome.
While the guys were getting their donuts, I visited Caprine Artisan Soaps and learned about their goat-milk soaps, lotions, and natural bug spray. Every bar of soap that I picked up smelled amazing. I would have taken home one of each if I could have! We have skin sensitivities in our family and goat milk soap is both gentle and effective, so we’re big fans. This family goat farm is located near Elgin, Texas.
I was happy to meet Tamika Rodriguez at her booth: Bloom by Design (which was a work of art in itself!) Do you see these gorgeous flower arrangements? Tamika focuses on holistic wellness, offering teas, skincare products, and other natural remedies alongside her stunning arrangements.
Last but not least, Longbow is a legit coffee company that offers something for everyone–hot, iced, americanos, lattes, tea, lemonade, or a list of other tasty beverages. My favorite is an iced americano with a splash of cream.
There are so many other great farms and vendors at the market each week, but I’ll have to cover those another time. Perhaps you can visit the Salado Farmer’s Market at Barrow and tell me about your favorite stand! We were there at nine AM and left shortly before the taproom opened, but if you like to sleep in and then get to the market, you’ll be fortunate to enjoy an ice cold brew or glass of wine in the taproom.
Hope you and your family enjoy your weekend in Salado and definitely support our local small businesses! We love it here and love the people that make this village so special. Blessings!
